A survey by the department of school education and literacy has identified 406 classrooms in 168 government schools across Mysuru district as being in a dilapidated condition. The state government has sanctioned Rs 5.8 crore for repairs, but civil works have not yet commenced.

The delay has left many schools awaiting essential repairs ahead of heavier rains. Of the 406 classrooms identified, 266 require minor repairs, while 140 are severely damaged. The highest number of affected classrooms is in T Narasipura, Hunsur, and Periyapatna taluks.
