A fire at an illegally operating pub in Mysuru resulted in the death of two people, prompting Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah to announce legal action against the owner and recommend the suspension of the Excise Deputy Commissioner for negligence. Over 15 people were rescued from the scene.
Karnataka Urban Development Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah registered a complaint against the owner and stated that legal action will be taken in the pub fire incident. The minister also made a recommendation to suspend the Excise Deputy Commissioner, citing the pub’s illegal operation without a license. Despite instructions from the Excise DC to take action against establishments operating illegally or without licenses, the minister alleged that the Excise DC remained silent. Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah further directed the police to conduct inspections across the city.
The incident occurred on Monday, with two people dying and several others injured after a fire broke out at the pub. Fire teams from the Saraswathipuram Fire Station received a call at 3:15 pm and immediately reached the spot to douse the fire, rescuing over 15 individuals. Two people in the kitchen section died due to the intensity of the blaze, while the injured were shifted to nearby hospitals for medical assistance and treatment. Divisional Fire Officer Ranganath reported that seven injured individuals were taken to nearby hospitals.
